Safer Internet Day

Tuesday 5th February is Safer Internet Day and the theme this year is "Together for a Better Internet". The children will be talking about how they stay safe online and there is a link here https://www.childnet.com/ufiles/Online-gaming-an-introduction-for-parents-and-carers-2017.pdf to a leaflet for parents which has information about how to help your child keep safe while playing games online (it's also on our Useful Information page and will be emailed home).

There is lots more information available on websites such as www.childnet.com, https://www.saferinternet.org.uk, and www.thinkuknow.co.uk.

Safer Internet Day links to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, articles 16 and 17:

Article 16 (Right to privacy): Children have a right to privacy. The law should protect them from attacks

against their way of life, their good name, their families and their homes.

Article 17 (Access to information; mass media): Children have the right to get information that is

important to their health and well-being. Governments should encourage mass media – radio, television,

newspapers and Internet content sources – to provide information that children can understand and to not

promote materials that could harm children.
